Illuminated art in Brabant.

This project ran in anticipation of the exhibition Imaging Brabant. Rogier Van der Weyden (ca. 1398-1464) and his contemporaries (autumn 2009). It focuses on art production in the old duchy of Brabant, taking the work of Rogier Van der Weyden as its starting point. The exhibition illustrated Van der Weyden’s inspiring influence on his contemporaries – painters, sculptors, illuminators, stained glass and tapestry designers and so on – in Brussels and elsewhere. This project was funded by the National Bank of Belgium.

Academic associates: Brigitte Dekeyzer and Annelies Vogels. Supervisor: Jan Van der Stock.
