Dr. Dominique Vanwijnsberghe

 

Dominique Vanwijnsberghe (1965) studied Germanic philology (Dutch-English) at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). He proceeded to study Art History at the same university, as well as at its Flemish counterpart, the Catholic University of Leuven. He attained his PhD at the latter in 1996. Throughout 1997 and 1998 he was a scientific associate at the Centre for the Study of Flemish Illumination (KU Leuven). He spent time abroad at Princeton University (1997-1998) and at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität, Heidelberg (2003-2004). In 2009, he was a visiting scholar at the Section for Iconographic Sources at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS, Paris/Orléans). He is a member of the Royal Academy of Archeology of Belgium and of the Belgian American Educational Foundation. He was vice chairman of the international scientific committee of the exhibition “Rogier van der Weyden 1400-1464. The Master of Passions”.

 

Since 1998, Dominique Vanwijnsberghe has worked at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage in Brussels, where he became senior research associate with D.Sc. in 2008.
