Katrien Smeyers

Katharina Smeyers (1968) holds a license in At History. From 1990 to 2003 she was closely connected with the study centre as academic associate. She has worked on many projects, including the exhibitions Medieval Magic. Flemish Miniatures Before Van Eyck(ca. 1380-ca. 1420) (Leuven, 1993), the exhibition trilogy Dirk Bouts, een Vlaams primitief te Leuven;Leven te Leuven in de late Middeleeuwen; Het stadhuis van Leuven (Leuven, 1998) and Medieval Mastery. Book illumination from Charlemagne to Charles the Bold (800-1475) (Leuven, 2002).

At present she is working in the Manuscripts and Precious Works section of the University Library of the Catholic University of Leuven (K.U.Leuven).

Her informative young persons’ book Schapenvellen en ganzenveren. Het verhaal van het middeleeuwse boek (Leuven, 1999), was nominated for ‘De Gouden Uil 2000’ and won the ‘Boekenwelp 2000’.
